"Time is precious"....I was watching ESPN last night with my household of boys. A rerun of an awards show back in the 90's was on. Someone was giving a speech that really made me think. He was fighting cancer, and he kept talking about how precious time was. He also said to do three things everyday, and you won't have any regrets. The first was to laugh, the second was to spend some time each day in thought, and the third was to move your emotions to cry whether it be because you're happy or sad. I know this time of year, we all get so busy and caught up in the craziness of the season. Just remember that time is precious and we should not take one minute for granted. Take some time to laugh, think, and cry, and just enjoy each day that we have. We make our scrapbooks to preserve our precious memories. Let's not get so caught up in the craziness, that we forget to make memories that we want to keep and be reminded of, not those that we look back on and say "I wish I would have taken the time to do...."

Christmas is right around the corner! Have you started your shopping? Or maybe you have already gotten all your shopping done! I have started my shopping and have my tree up. I love to put Christmas music on, decorate my house for Christmas, and smell Pumpkin Roll in my Scentsy pot. Doesn't get too much better than that! Just wish it would last a little longer!

We have some great Christmas paper in this season and also new Winter collections are arriving, including Bo Bunny's Midnight Frost and Fancy Pant's Hot Chocolate. Just the names are yummy! And their newest line Hopscotch will be shipping soon! We have definitely kept the UPS man busy!! Come see everything else we have in!!

We also are working on some great layouts for Christmas using Basic Grey's Jovial and Fancy Pant's Traditions. Melody's ornaments are also hanging up on the tree in the store. If you haven't seen these, you are really missing out! Not too late to make some as gifts!

I could have sworn school just started, and now it's Thanksgiving. I am not sure where the time goes, but it just goes faster and faster every year! That's why it's so important to stop and reflect, and to realize how thankful we are for everything we have. I am so thankful for my family, and all my wonderful friends. I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

More recipe book photos!

Recipe Book Class

We survived the recipe book class! We really think we need t-shirts that say that! It was such a great class, but very intense. We all love our recipe books, however, so it was well worth it! Speaking of recipes, I recently tasted these great pumpkin muffins that my sister-in-law made and had to have the recipe. I am sharing it with you all because they are so great! You must give them a try!

3 C Flour

2 C Sugar

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 16oz can pumpkin

2/3 C oil

3 eggs, slightly beaten

Mix dry ingredients. Add remaining ingredients until well blended. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans or muffin pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean. Enjoy!

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year! I really wasn't ready for Halloween to be over, so I guess that's why I haven't updated the blog in so long. Just wanted to write a quick note about my boys' football season. Damon's team went undefeated and Ryan's team went 6-2, and made it to the semi-finals game. I am so proud of both of them! Basketball is next! Can't wait!

Soup Can Mummy

I just love Halloween!! Made this cute mummy for each of my boys! Here are some easy instructions for this cute Halloween project.

Soup or Veggie Can Rinsed Out
White or Cream Twill
2 Big Googly Eyes
Candy
Cello Bag
Fun Ribbon
Tag Punch or Shape
Halloween Stamp
Button and Floss

Take the cleaned out can and glue one end of the twill to the can. Start at the bottom or the top and wrap your can "Mummy Style". Glue or tuck in the remaining end of the twill. Next tuck in and glue the googly eyes on. Place your cello bag in the can and fill with Halloween candy. Tie with cute ribbon and a decorated tag. Easy peasy and so cute!

Sugarland does Steampunk

We have had some questions pop up about Graphic 45's new Steampunk Debutante line.

Steampunk is showing an influence in clothing, music and is now appearing on our scrapbook layouts. Gears, Metal, Victorian Lace, Flowers, Wings and Technology are all making an appearance.

In this video Sugarland describes the Steampunk influence on them personally and their music. Their stage is amazing and represents a taste of "Steampunk" and what it is about. We have also seen the Steampunk look in other music and TV shows. Keep your eye out for this fun new inspiration. Gears and metal look great on boy and masculine pages and the Victorian look is showing up in the pages and cards around the store. It is always so exciting to see where designer influences come from and you never know what's going to show up next in our fun scrapbook world.

The Totally Rockin' 80's are Alive and Well

We had so much fun at our 3rd Birthday Crop Celebration! Games, Prizes, Food, Friends and Fun...oh yes and lots of scrapbooking. Here are a few pictures from this event. If you have some photos you would like to share from the birthday crop, please send them our way to onepageatatime@att.net and we will get them posted. Thank you for another wonderful year!

Fall Photo Op

The colors of fall make a great backdrop for your family photos. Grab the camera and the family for some awesome snapshots. Here are some tips that might help!

#1 Clothing: Everyone does not have to wear the exact same outfit. However, to give your photos a feeling of togetherness dress everyone in like colors. A fairly easy outfit to put together would be black shirts and blue jeans.

#2 Time of photo shoot: It is best to take outdoor photos early in the morning or in the evening so the sun is not directly overhead. Finding a nice shaded area is best.

#3 Check your background: You may need to adjust your camera angle to eliminate distractions.

#4 Get in the shot: Use a tripod and remote or self-timer to get in the shot yourself.

#5 Pile up some leaves and have fun! Take a lot of candid shots while your subject plays in the leaves.

Then bring in a few of your favorite photos and we can help you with custom photo Christmas cards. If you’re making your cards this year, remember to include a photo. We can print any size and many shapes!

Photo Op Photography Tip and New Classes

One of the great hidden features on digital cameras is the ability to adjust the flash. Take control of your flash so it flashes when you want it to. Most automatic flash settings will not fire the flash outdoors during the day. Adjusting the flash settings and forcing the flash to fire helps eliminate harsh shadows and helps to properly expose your subject. Want to learn more? We have photography classes for everyone.

Photo Op

It’s almost back to school time! Don’t forget to take a picture of your child’s (or grandchild, niece, nephew, stranger (ok maybe not a stranger; that might be creepy)) first day of school. Use portrait mode on your camera to take some snapshots of your little one all dressed up for the first day of school. Try not to embarrass them too much, but have them stand in front of the school and shoot from a low angle to get the name of the school in the picture. Shooting with your camera set to portrait mode will help blur the background a bit.

Let freedom never perish in your hands. ~Joseph Addison

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck
